Cleveland Heights man arrested for theft of jewelry at Macy’s: University Heights police blotter

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio —

Theft: Warrensville Center Road

At 1:20 p.m. May 20, loss prevention at Macy’s, 2201 Warrensville Center Road, took into custody a Cleveland Heights man, 67, for the theft of jewelry worth a total of $570. Police charged the man with theft.

OVI: Cedar Road

At 10:35 p.m. May 17, police were dispatched to Cedar and South Green roads where a crash that resulted in injuries had occurred. After investigating, officers determined that the at-fault driver, a South Euclid woman, 49, was impaired.

EMS took the woman to the hospital, where she consented to a blood draw. Police cited the woman for OVI, driving with a suspended license, driving without a license, and failure to maintain an assured clear distance ahead.

Obscenity: Wrenford Road

At 5:05 p.m. May 17, officers were dispatched to Gearity School, 2323 Wrenford Road, on a complaint of juveniles disseminating pornography. Police took a report and began an investigation.

Assist rescue squad: Cedar Road

At 9:15 p.m. May 17, a rescue squad was dispatched for a man who had passed out in the restroom of CVS/Pharmacy, 14440 Cedar Road. The Burton man, 29, was taken to Ahuja Medical Center in Beachwood.

Theft: South Green Road

At 11:15 a.m. May 18, police were called to Heinen’s, 2180 S. Green Road, on a shoplifting report. A store employee reported that, at 7:25 p.m. May 13, two women stole $85.29 worth of goods and left the store’s lot in a taupe colored Buick Encore. Police are investigating.

Theft: South Green Road

At 12:40 p.m. May 18, police were called to Heinen’s on a report that a woman stole merchandise totaling $208.84. Store security detained the woman, 32, of Twinsburg, who was later charged by police with theft and possession of criminal tools.

Theft: Cedar Road

At 4:20 a.m. May 20, an officer stopped a male walking at Cedar and Warrensville Center roads as the man held what appeared to be items taken from an outdoor display at Whole Foods, 13998 Cedar Road.

The man told the officer that he had paid for the merchandise, but he had no receipt. A store manager confirmed that the goods belonged to the store. The store did not wish to prosecute the man, but only wanted back its merchandise.

Personal welfare check: Warrensville Center Road

At 11 a.m. May 20, police were called to Bialy’s Bagels, 2267 Warrensville Center Road, on a report of a psychiatric situation involving a Euclid woman, 19, who was threatening to harm herself. EMS transported the woman to the hospital for evaluation.

Disorderly conduct: Miramar Boulevard

At 3:30 p.m. May 20, police were dispatched to a home in the 2300 block of Miramar Boulevard on a report of two females fighting in a driveway. One of the females left the scene before officers arrived. The other, a Cleveland woman, 22, was cited for disorderly conduct.

Theft: Warrensville Center Road

At 3:55 p.m. May 20, police were called to Macy’s where a theft was in progress. Arriving officers checked the area, but were unable to locate the suspect, a man in his early 20s.

Loss prevention stated that the man had stolen two articles of clothing worth a total of $258. The man pushed his way past loss prevention personnel and left the store’s lot in a blue Honda.

OVI: Raymont Boulevard

At 1:20 a.m. May 22, police were dispatched to the 3500 block of Raymont Boulevard on a report of a woman passed out at the steering wheel of her car at a stop sign. The woman, 35, of Cleveland, was found to be impaired. She was arrested and charged with OVI and other traffic related offenses.

An investigation into other criminal charges is pending.

Gun found: Washington Boulevard

At 1:05 p.m. May 22, a resident reported finding a gun on the ground in a Washington Boulevard front yard. The detective bureau is tracing ownership of the weapon.
